If people want to learn to draw, they generally start by picking up a pencil & drawing something? It’s unlikley to be a masterpiece, but it’s a start from which to develop.
Maybe learning to improvise by starting at the theory end is a bit like learning to draw starting with a copy of Euclid’s Elements and a study of geometry?
